What Most Visitors to Eldorado Canyon Never See
Our namesake canyon is having a moment. Writing for Fast Food Club, Logan Aspen makes the case that Eldorado Canyon State Park still feels like a secret despite sitting a few minutes southwest of Boulder, and he points hikers toward the payoff most visitors never reach.
The Rattlesnake Gulch Trail climbs about 1,000 feet over roughly three and a half miles round trip, passing the stone ruins of the old Crags Hotel before opening onto a ridge where, on a clear day, you can see the Continental Divide.
If that sounds like more than your knees signed up for, the Fowler Trail runs mostly flat along the south side of the canyon with the same cliff views. Either way, the park entrance sits on Kneale Road in Eldorado Springs, a stone's throw from where we bottle. Go early, and bring water.
